Fall Protection Coverage World Wide (17-09-2009)
Eurosafe Solutions have completed a contract with Svitzer Ocean Towage.
The project involved designing, supplying and installing Latchways LadderLatch fall protection systems to the foremast of their open ocean towing vessels.
The contract was negotiated and secured by Eurosafe in the Netherlands and installation of the LadderLatch systems was carried out in Singapore dry docks by Eurosafe of Australia.
The Eurosafe global network provided Svitzer a perfect solution that would fit in with the hectic schedule that vessels have to follow whilst travelling around the world’s oceans.
Svitzer Towage chose the Latchways LadderLatch as the marine grade 316 components used throughout the system would be best suited for the harsh conditions encountered on the open sea. The other benefits are the connecting travel device, LadderLatch Transfastener, which allows continuous hands free protection when climbing up or down the ladder with an inbuilt braking mechanism that will arrest a person’s fall immediately should they lose their footing on the ladder.
The final benefit is the system can be checked for use prior to use at the base of the ladder. rather than climbng to the top of the ladder as is required on other vertical fall protection systems.
Working at height on the open ocean is fraught with danger, however Eurosafe have now reduced this level of danger for the crews of Svitzer Ocean Towage
