Project Brief Working alongside Alternative Access Ltd, Eurosafe Solutions Ltd were asked to visit the event arenas at Earls Court and Olympia to assess their requirements for safe access into the roof steelwork, the area in which the event riggers move around in.
Riggers traditionally climb around in the steelwork, 30m above the ground, without any form of fall protection. The riggers work under intense pressure as the time involved in re-rigging between events is very limited and any solution would need to allow the riggers to work safely without slowing down their works.
The grand hall at Olympia is a century old cast iron truss structure. This steelwork could not be penetrated so bespoke brackets would need to be designed to enable the steel posts to be clamped to the structural steelwork. |

The SolutionOver 800 individual brackets and 5000m of wire rope were installed, with a fall protection system installed to each horizontal and arched truss.
The works were installed in a 15 day period between events, with Eurosafe Solutions Ltd working day and night, without any disruption to their busy events schedule.
