Project Brief
The Millennium Dome is in the process of being redeveloped in to an indoor arena that will be capable of hosting large scale music events and exhibitions. New buildings are being built inside the existing Dome to cater for these functions and a large casino is also being built.
The architects on the Millennium Dome project, HOK, have worked with Eurosafe Solutions Ltd on previous projects in the entertainments industry and the new home of Arsenal FC, the Emirates Stadium, Eurosafe Solutions Ltd were invited by HOK to develop the safety and access packages for this project at an early stage.
The Solution
Working closely with the Millennium Dome’s building engineers, Buro Happold, the future event riggers and HOK, Eurosafe Solutions Ltd designed a series of cable based fall protection systems in the support steelwork that gave the riggers an unparalleled degree of safe access when working in the steelwork. This level of access in turn allows the Millennium Dome’s Clientele a much greater degree of flexibility when rigging their events.
By working alongside Buro Happold, Eurosafe Solutions Ltd were able to keep the potential loads on the structure down to a minimum to allow the riggers a greater amount of rigging load, again to provide an additional benefit to the Millennium Dome’s Clients.
