Project BriefPrince Cladding BV, a Dutch roofing contractor, invited Eurosafe Solutions Ltd to site to look at the overall roof access strategy, as well as finding an unobtrusive method of access to allow the safe cleaning of the internal face of the front elevation of glazing.
The internal glazing was complex due to the constricted access at floor level and the fact that the glazing sloped outwards, from bottom to top. This meant that the standard abseil cradle system would be difficult to install and the waveform roof structure was designed onto Gluelam beams, rather than the standard steelwork, and these beams would remain visible through the ceiling.
The Solution
A fall protection system was installed to the Euroseam standing seam roof sheet to allow for roof access.
Eurosafe Solutions Ltd designed a bespoke bracket system to affix to the Gluelam beams to enable abseil access to the glazing. These brackets were designed to be as discreet as possible so that there was not a negative visual impact on the appearance of the building.
