The HSE state that "where work is not done at the edge, demarcation barriers can be provided at a safe distance from the edge (usually at least 2m)" and that "barriers should be visible and obvious".
D-Marc Ltd have developed the D-marc™ 105 as the latest form of demarcation and is the first demarcation system to be tested to tolerate windspeeds of up to 105mph.
Comprising simple post, base and chain components, D-marc™ 105 is uniquely designed to prevent oscillation, a common cause of roof damage with traditional systems. The lattice style upright ensures that winds will circulate and go through the upright rather than blow it over whilst the base is made of recycled tyres complying with BS4790 for stability, BS1006 for flammability and BS7188 for slip resistance.
D-marc™ 105 provides a demarcation system for flat rooftops. Applications include the preventing of access to hazards during regular rooftop maintenance or to provide safe access across the roof. Wherever roof access is required, designers are tasked with creating a safe route which should be identified by a demarcation system.
